Niavaran Palace was the Royal Residence in Iran prior to the occupation of the country by the Islamic Party. The Residence has since been converted into a museum and features many pieces donated by Farah Diba, the Queen of Iran. Her Highness Farah Diba was not only an artist herself, but enjoyed and supported artists of all media both internationally and in Iran. This catalogue project features many of the masterpieces displayed in the Niavaran Palace and curated by Her Highness with 150 pages, this unique bilingual catalogue can be read from both ends in English and Persian.
This design, however, is challenging in that unlike English, Persian is read and written from right to left, meaning that the first page in a Persian language layout is the last page in an English language layout.
In order to present all the pertinent information for each art piece in the right order, the catalogue was created to have both left and right covers as the front covers. The English text begins with the left front cover, and the Persian text begins with the right front cover, and features a unique centrefold layout with additional fold out pages dedicated to international and local art pieces.
The catalogue design is composed both by myself and Naznin Aygani.
